Wow - had a splendid time with my DSIL, Kay, last weekend. We hauled it down to San Antonio and spent quite a few hours drinking dem beers and enjoying the sights. They had spinners, silk harvesters, corn shuckers, wine makers, lace makers:
Mariachi bands:
they even had a representative from overeaters anonymous in attendance!
Sorry, just had to. If you've got the nerve to perch on the end cuz you otherwise don't fit, I'm taking a picture.
The Mariachi band was awesome and made up of a group of 8 siblings. The little boy, in the front singing, is 9 years old. There was a little girl around 7 who would creep onto the scene during certain songs. They did a great job. It was hotter than hades but the cold brews and what shade we could catch helped. We spiked our "horchata" drink with vodka for the drive home - horchata is a rice milk drink that tastes like rice pudding. We also brought home a "papusa" which is similar to a tamale. DH said he wishes I'd bought a case of them. I looked up recipes and hope to make these one day.
